The Kyle City Council will hold a public hearing regarding the recent remaining of Rebel Drive to Fajita Drive as the first order of business at their special meeting Tuesday, Aug. 25.
The council voted unanimously in favor of the change at its Aug. 18 meeting; however, the vote was held without benefit of public input because the published agenda did not include a listed public hearing as was required.
The change was badly received by many on social media and beyond.
Mayor Travis Mitchell, who placed the resolution to change the street name on the agenda, nonetheless called a public hearing on the matter, then close it when no one stepped forward to speak.
The council will also on Tuesday vote for the second and final time on adopting the proposed FY 2021, $134.2 million budget and ad valorem tax rate.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and is viewable through the city’s website or on Spectrum 10 in the Kyle area.
