Undoubtedly, this Halloween has a different sense to it; trick-or-treating is not an option for many, decorations are scarcely found and many festivities fell through or changed in conduct. Still, there are some new activities that were born under these unprecedented times.
The Carrington in Buda has found another use for their vintage wedding and party venue. Typically , they throw monthly events for the community and host a Halloween party for adults, but this year is different. Tonight and tomorrow night from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., they will host a Halloween event that has just the right amount of spooky to entertain children.
Guests will start through the side courtyard, which according to The Carrington’s co-owner, Cari Wible, will have “a spooky and haunted forest vibe.” Then they will migrate to the back courtyard which will be the candy cemetery. Afterwards, guests will walk onto Ash Street, which is blocked off so people can look at decorated pumpkins.
The tombstones were made by Mockingbird Made and some were donated by a local theatre, Wible said. The decorated pumpkins were donated by some Buda businesses from another Halloween event. Candies were also donated to The Carrington by multiple local businesses.
This event is to give residents an alternative to the traditional Halloween.
“We know that Buda Halloween and trick-or-treating isn’t really an option this year,” Wible said, “so we wanted to do our best to contribute.”
