Kyle eyes limited reopening for city facilities

KYLE – The city of Kyle will reopen most public facilities on Monday, Sept. 21 for limited operations. Face masks will be required while in city offices and social distancing is recommended and promoted throughout. 


Safety protocol for employees returning to offices include temperature checks, wearing face masks and social distancing. 


Kyle City Hall 


The Kyle City Council will continue to host hybrid meetings. Boards and commissions may resume their meetings utilizing a hybrid or virtual method. 


While virtual customer service and utility billing is still encouraged, it will be available in the first floor lobby of City Hall. 


Currently, only 100 people are allowed for facility rentals. Beginning Sept. 21, there will be no cap on how many participants for city facility rentals as social distancing will be encouraged. 


Registration for programs will open Sept. 21 and classes will begin in October. 


Kyle Public Library


The library will be reopened for limited occupancy and encouraged social distancing. Computer stations and checkout areas will be cleaned frequently. For more information, contact the Kyle Public Library at (512) 268-7411.


Parks


Kyle parks remain open with encouraged safety measures and social distancing. Playgrounds are also sanitized as needed. For more information, contact Parks and Recreation Director Mariana Espinoza at (512) 262-3939 or [email protected].


October Special Events 


  • Oct. 3: Ash Pavilion ribbon cutting will be held in-person 

  • Oct. 10: Founders Day parade will be virtual with submitted photos 

  • Oct. 16: Movies at the Lake will be a modified, in-person event that will require registration to maintain proper social distancing. 

  • Oct. 24: Spooktacular Drive Through at Gregg-Clarke Park (previously Center St Trick or Treat)

  • Late October: virtual individual and family costume contest and pumpkin carving contest 

The ReOpen Task Force will continue to monitor COVID-19 trends and update the public as needed.
