Hays County is now accepting applications for the county’s relief fund.
Hays County Commissioners distributed details regarding the Hays County COVID-19 Relief Fund, which is administered by Hays County and Blanco River Regional recovery team. The deadline to sign up for the program is Dec. 22.
The program will help Hays County residents who can show that they had a job loss, job reduction or are unable to work due to COVID-19. Funds will be given to cover costs of mortgage, rent and utility payments.
The program funds will be from $500 to $5,000. Eligibility Period is March 1, 2020 through December 30, 2020
The program’s eligibility parameters include:
- Applications must be received by December 22, 2020
- Program Services will include mortgage/rent & utility assistance only
- Financial caps for assistance are modified as follows
o Single Person Home
- $1,500 per month - Mortgage/Rent
- $1,000 per month – Utilities
o Multi-Family Home
- $2,400 per month - Mortgage/Rent
- $1,000 per month – Utilities
o Monthly Assistance will not exceed a 90-day or three-month period
o Number of family members per household will be determined by those living in the home as of March 1
Judge Ruben Becerra encouraged struggling Hays County residents to take advantage of the program.
“I urge residents who are experiencing financial difficulties to apply for a grant,” Becerra said.
