JOHNSON CITY — Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) is now accepting applications for its community grants with awards up to $5,000. Nonprofits must submit their applications by 11:59 p.m on Friday, Oct. 2. Eligible organizations must show proof of their tax-exempt status and must be located in PEC’s service territory. Grant funds must go toward capital improvements, technology, or energy-efficient equipment. “It’s especially important for us to show support right now to the nonprofits that are working so hard to provide important resources and assistance to those in need,” said PEC Community Relations Coordinator Caroline Tinsley Porter. “When we come together as a community, we can thrive, and that’s the beauty of our grants program.” Last spring, PEC awarded more than $25,000 to six area nonprofit organizations. See the list below of its most recent recipients.
Twice a year, PEC awards community grants to eligible nonprofits. PEC’s Power of Change bill round-up program makes the program possible. PEC members who participate in Power of Change elect to round up their electric bills to the nearest dollar each month, and the combined funds support PEC Community Grants and other community giving efforts. Since launching four years ago, PEC’s Community Grants program has helped 46 area nonprofits fulfill their missions by providing more than $190,000 in total funding. If you’re a PEC member interested in helping support local nonprofits, enroll in Power of Change today. Sign up via SmartHub or by calling us at 888-554-4732. |
