On Feb. 4, Barton Middle School students in Teresa Newhall’s Spanish class donated crocheted hats to the American Heart Association’s Big Hearts, Little Hats campaign. The project was part of a challenge made earlier this year by Barton Principal Teri Eubank for staff to teach advisory students something new that could also be used as a service project. Newhall chose to teach students how to crochet. Inspiration stemmed from Leia Limon, daughter of Live Oak Academy graduate Madison Sandoval and Lehman High graduate Nick Limon, who was born with a heart defect.
