Dripping Springs High junior Melissa Richardson was announced as the winner in a statewide logo design contest at the Feb. 1 State Board of Education (SBOE) meeting. Richardson was awarded a $3,000 cash prize and her logo will be used by the SBOE on future materials representing the Permanent School Fund. Superintendent Bruce Gearing, DSHS Principal Joe Burns, and Visual Arts teacher Jay Bates attended the meeting where the winning design was announced.
The contest, where students were tasked with creating a logo for the state’s Permanent School Fund (PSF), had been narrowed to two finalists. A total of 521 entries from high schoolers around Texas were submitted.
