It’s now official – Kyle is the Pie Capital of Texas.
On Jan. 23, city officials celebrated National Pie Day by announcing it Kyle been granted the Pie Capital of Texas trademark from the U.S. Patent and Trade office.
The journey toward the certification started around a year ago when the city of Kyle proclaimed itself as the pie capital of Texas, due in large part to the success of Texas Pie Company in downtown.
Mayor Pro Tem Dex Ellison broke the news on Facebook and called for the citizens of Kyle to buy, eat, think and “be the pie” at the announcement.
“I am excited to announce we have the official trademark as the Pie Capital of Texas,” Ellison said.
The official framed document from the United States government was broadcasted to the citizens at the event and is in the possession of the city.
