Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) officials are warning of a phone scam that's targeting its members.
According to a PEC press release, members have reported phone calls from people claiming to represent the company and who are demanding immediate payment to prevent disconnection.
Officials said PEC will never call to threaten service disconnection if payment is not made immediately, and will never ask members to pay with a prepaid card.
