Hands of Hope has been sponsored by San Marcos area churches for over 15 years. The program offers two semesters each year of free classes for women, 18 years of age and older.
Classes are held Monday through Thursday at The First Baptist Church, 325 McCarty Lane, in San Marcos. Each day’s program starts at 8:45 a.m. with Bible Study.
Transportation, Childcare, and ESL assistance are available at no cost and a free lunch is provided daily by community volunteers. Each day’s program ends at 1:30 p.m.
All women completing the 10-week program are eligible for financial support like scholarships for continuing education, certification requirements, and GED studies examination.
The program’s wide variety of classes include money management, writing, language arts, computer skills, math, personal discovery, communications, health and nutrition, personal organization, and exercise.
Women interested in enrolling can call 512-618-0723 for more information and to receive an application. Class size is limited so it’s important to enroll soon while there are still openings.
