With the victory, Wimberley (6-1, 2-0) is a win away from securing a playoff berth with only three games remaining in the season.
Wimberley quickly gained separation via a 28-7 first quarter lead highlighted by a 50-yard strike from McCollum to wide receiver Christian Marshall.
McCollum provided the majority of the offense for the Texans, going 15 of 19 for 346 yards and four touchdowns through the air, as well as 33 rushing yards on nine carries and two additional scores.
Marshall was the primary target for McCollum, snagging four catches for 148 yards receiving and three of the team’s four total passing scores. Texan wide receiver Jake Limely finished with 93 receiving yards on five catches.
Meanwhile, Texan running back Juan Olmedo Barraco rushed for 89 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown, while running back Jake Milam rushed for 31 yards on four carries and one score.
Fourteen additional unanswered Texan points early in the second frame gave Wimberley a 42-7 advantage before Bandera answered back.
A Bulldog touchdown before halftime, followed by two more touchdowns in the third frame, pulled Bandera to within three scores at 49-28. Bandera was led by running back Tony Cardenas who rushed for 221 yards on 19 carries and four touchdowns.
But Wimberley closed the door for good with a touchdown in the final quarter to take the win.
Wimberley out-gained Bandera 495-375 in total yards, while also going 3 for 3 on third down conversions.
