A Hays High alumnus has been identified as the victim in a single-vehicle accident that occurred overnight Friday on Post Road near San Marcos.
Justin David Malott, 30, was identified as the victim in the crash, according to a city of San Marcos press release. Malott was a 2007 graduate of Hays High.
Authorities were dispatched to the 1800 block of Post Road around 12:10 a.m. Friday for a major collision involving a motorcycle.
When they arrived, authorities found the victim, later identified as Malott, at the site of the wreck. Hays County Justice of the Peace Jo Anne Prado pronounced Malott deceased at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.
According to a preliminary San Marcos Police investigation, a 2018 Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Malott, was traveling northbound on Post Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Authorities do not believe another vehicle was involved in the incident.
According to the city of San Marcos, the incident is the seventh traffic fatality in 2019. San Marcos Police are investigating the incident.
