Four straight wins in a row guided the Dripping Springs boys basketball team to a first place finish at the H-E-B Wildcat Classic tournament held in Portland Dec. 12-14. The Tigers averaged 60 points per contest over the course of the tournament, which included a narrow 64-61 win over 6A foe Schertz Clemens. Dripping Springs (8-2) claimed the tournament title with a 68-39 win over Clear Lake in the championship game. Dripping Springs’ Aidan Bailey claimed tournament MVP honors with Trace Young and Xavier Phillips named as all-tournament selections. Dripping Springs returns home Friday when they host Taylor at 4 p.m. at Tiger Gym. The Tigers begin district play Jan. 3 when they host Austin Navarro at 7 p.m.
