Starting Monday, construction crews will close Lehman Road from FM 150 to Masonwood Drive to begin long-awaited improvements on the thoroughfare.
Renovation of Lehman Road, part of the voter-approved 2013 road bond, is expected to take approximately 20 to 24 months to complete, weather permitting. The closure of Lehman Road from FM 150 to Masonwood Drive is expected to last “several months,” according to a Kyle press release. Kyle residents should be prepared for detours during the construction period.
Cash Construction, the firm awarded the project bid, will bore under FM 150 to install a 30-inch wastewater line, as well as make drainage improvements along Lehman Road to Masonwood Drive.
In addition, work will start on reconstructing Lehman Road, as well as adding turn lanes and a sidewalk. As work progresses north, construction crews will close different segments of Lehman Road to through traffic, according to the release. Signage is expected to be posted in advance.
Hays CISD’s Transportation Department has been informed of detours and is planning bus routes accordingly. Businesses at Lehman Road and FM 150 will be open and accessible during construction.
In addition, city officials plan to close Lake Kyle Park March 25 to the public.
How to avoid Lehman Road construction
Starting Monday, Lehman Road will be closed between FM 150 and Masonwood Drive. Here are some detours around the construction work zone.
Detours from westbound FM 150 will be:
Take I-35 access road to Philomena (formerly Goforth) to Masonwood, turn left onto Lehman Rd.
Take I-35 access road to Bunton Creek Rd. and turn right onto Lehman Rd.
Detours from eastbound FM 150 will be:
Cross the Center St. bridge over I-35. Turn left onto the I-35 access road, turn right onto Philomena (formerly Goforth), right on Masonwood, then left on Lehman Rd.
Cross the Center St. bridge over I-35. Turn left onto the I-35 access road, turn right on Bunton Creek Rd. then turn right onto Lehman Rd.
