Homes evacuated in Kyle as precaution after cut gas line

UPDATE (10:30 a.m.)Centerpoint Energy crews have stopped the leak and all residents who were evacuated were allowed to return home.


EARLIER 


Kyle Fire Department officials have evacuated several homes near the area of north Burleson Street and Star of Texas Drive as a precaution after a gas line was cut Tuesday morning.


Kyle Fire Chief Kyle Taylor said authorities were dispatched at around 7:55 a.m. Tuesday after construction crews working on the Burleson Street improvement project cut a gas line.


As a precaution, Kyle Fire officials evacuated homes on Selvera Street, Tenorio Street, Barrera Street, as well as homes on Post Road Circle and a few homes on Star of Texas Drive. It is unknown at this time the exact number of residences that have been evacuated.


It is unknown at this time when Centerpoint Energy will fix the leak.
