Hays County Sheriff Gary Cutler has drawn a primary opponent.
Dave Graham, who has been a part-time Pct. 4 Deputy Constable since 2017, has thrown his hat into the ring for the March 2020 Republican primary.
According to his web page (daveforhays.com), Graham has 35 years experience in law enforcement including 20 years for the Dallas Police Department, 11 of them as a lieutenant. He touts his experience as including tactical operations and support, internal affairs, helicopter command pilot and personnel and development. He holds a Master Peace Officer certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
Cutler was first elected in 2010 and is seeking his third term.
In August, Cutler told the News-Dispatch he would continue to address challenges presented by the county’s “unprecedented growth,” and noted his influence in the passage of the 2016 public safety bond.
