The man police believe murdered Lehman High School graduate Ben Verse last month is also the suspect in a San Marcos shooting that occurred only hours before.

Davonte Tenille Miller, 20, is currently jailed in Acadia Parish, Louisiana on unrelated charges, the city of Kyle said in a press release.
Verse, 19, was found dead in a vehicle in the parking lot of closed Kyle business along Interstate 35 at approximately 12:42 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
That was only hours after an incident on Mill Street in San Marcos that occurred between 8 and 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24. An 18-year-old woman, whose name was not released, was shot multiple times but survived.
Kyle police have not said how Verse died, and specifically noted in a Friday morning press release that they would not be giving out any additional information about the case.
It’s unknown on what charges Miller was arrested in Louisiana, but San Marcos Police filed aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges against him there on the night of Sept. 25.
Kyle police said Justice of the Peace Beth Smith issued a warrant for capital murder on Oct. 16. The charge of capital murder generally reflects that investigators believe the killing was committed in the course of another crime. Kyle police said Miller is a resident of Kyle.
It is an approximately six-hour journey from Kyle to Acadia Parish, a straight shot on Interstate 10.
San Marcos police, citing witnesses, said Miller fled that scene in a 2010 Hyundai Genesis. Kyle police said after Verse’s body was found that even though he was in the parking lot of a business, there were no security cameras that captured any pertinent footage.
