A Kyle native and Hays High alumnus has been identified as the victim in a single-vehicle accident that occurred overnight Sept. 6 on Post Road near San Marcos.
Justin David Malott, 30, was named as the victim in the crash that occurred in the 1800 block of Post Road, according to a city of San Marcos press release.
Authorities were dispatched around 12:10 a.m. for a major collision involving a motorcycle.
When they arrived, authorities found the victim, later identified as Malott, at the site of the wreck. Hays County Justice of the Peace Jo Anne Prado pronounced Malott deceased at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.
According to a preliminary San Marcos Police investigation, a 2018 Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Malott, was traveling northbound on Post Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Authorities do not believe another vehicle was involved in the incident.
According to the city of San Marcos, the incident is the seventh traffic fatality in 2019.
A Celebration of Life service are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle.
