Jake’s mother Alyson Jackson with Edith Salazar of Texican Cafe.

Friends, family and community came together to help raise funds for Hays High School student and football player Jake Jackson. Jackson learned a little more than a year ago that he had bone cancer when he developed a small lump on his leg. The condition kept him off the field, but not off the sidelines with his team. Jackson’s teammates and members of the community have shown their support for him by wearing green, which is Jackson’s favorite color, at the Hays High football games. The fundraiser was held earlier this month at Texican Cafe in Kyle.
