The Dripping Springs ISD Board of Trustees is in the midst of a search for a permanent superintendent for the district.
Nearly 80 candidates expressed interest in the position and the board carefully reviewed the pool before selecting seven for interviews, which occurred the week of Oct. 7. A second round of interviews will occur the week of Oct. 21. The process is being led by TASB (Texas Association of School Boards) Executive Search Services.
“We were pleased to see such a tremendous list of candidates put their hats into the ring for consideration,” said Board president Carrie Kroll. “This high level of interest reaffirms how well perceived DSISD is throughout the state. Board members are confident we can find an exceptional, visionary educator and leader who will be the right fit for Dripping Springs ISD.”
The board has considered input received from various stakeholder groups through face-to-face meetings and an online survey about what leadership qualities should be sought in a new superintendent. This input also is helping to form interview questions.
The goal is to be prepared to announce a lone finalist on Oct. 30. In fact, the October regular Board meeting has been rescheduled for Oct. 30; it will follow the announcement that will be presented in a special meeting. According to state statute, a 21-day waiting period will commence at that time. At the conclusion of that waiting period, the board will finalize the superintendent’s contract, then a starting date will be determined.
