Opening a medical center in a new community is different than opening just about any other business. For the community, it’s not the same as checking out a new retail shop or trying a new restaurant because there is a level of trust involved that must be there from day one. After all, we are talking about the health – even the life – of patients and families.
Since opening Baylor Scott & White Clinic in early August and then Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Buda in late September, we have been overwhelmed with the level of support and warm embrace we have received from this community. The trust you have placed in us has made caring for Hays County an honor. It is something we not only cherish but will strive to build upon every day and become part of the fabric of this community in a way that goes beyond the walls of our hospitals and clinics. That is why you’ll see us out and around the area at upcoming events like the Turkey Trot and Trail of Lights.
In fact, before we even opened our doors, we were proud to sponsor and attend the Buda Country Fair and Weiner Dog Races last April. There, we got a sense of the excitement surrounding the healthcare campus we were building, and the tremendous hospitality that permeates the Buda culture. That element of the culture is something we likewise try to incorporate into every patient encounter.
In October, we held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community open house. Having so many key civic leaders – from the mayor of Buda to Chamber and Economic Development Council members – and longtime residents attend these special events was deeply appreciated.
Our hope in opening our hospital and clinic was to make accessing quality, patient-centric healthcare easier and more convenient for Buda and surrounding areas. But more than that, we wanted to create a care experience for this community that reflected the values and culture of it. We want the character of our care facilities and providers to be uniquely Buda.
Though we have only been fully operational for a couple of months, we have already surpassed expectations as far as the number of patients and families who we thought would turn to us for their healthcare needs. We have received many kind words and much positive feedback since opening our doors. Hopefully, all this means we’re living up to your expectations.
We came here to be more than just your healthcare provider, though. We are here to be your neighbor. Thanks for the kind welcome.
