WOW! Whata lotta lights. Congrats and thanks, Mountain Citians. “Light up the City” accomplished!

Many of you switched on your lights on Thanksgiving weekend. By the weekend after Thanksgiving, our city was well lit. What love.

Loving Mountain City’s Décor Recognition gives applause to giving neighbors who “Light up the City,” filling their yards with holiday delights.

The Casses on Live Oak Court and the McClendons (JOY) have the LMC “Legacy Award”. In 2018 they were removed from the recognition process and given this permanent special award. Val and Holly, and, Ralph and Marcia wanted others to obtain “Grand Prize” and “People’s Favorite,” the awards they earned year after year.

On Friday night, children on the Santa Party hayride voted for 102 Pecan @Pin Oak as “Kid’s Favorite.”

Over the weekend, residents voted online for the “top winners.”

Thanks to former Mayor LaVerne McClendon, who initiated “Let’s Light Up The City.” Some of her “little green Christmas trees” are still in use, marking each house nominated for a Big Award.

Give Brian Porterfield and Patricia Porterfield a big round of applause for adding scallops of lights to the Big Oak Tree. Patricia also helped with the remainder of Loving Mountain City’s “City Hall Christmas Light Project” and helped me install the “little green Christmas trees.”

Condolences to The Hauptrief family. About dusk on Tuesday, December 10, their dark dachshund, Louis, was hit and killed near Live Oak at Maple. The driver did not stop.

Just minutes before, Elsa Saiva (red and white decorated house on Hemlock at Juniper), noticed the loose dog and tried in vain to catch him. She posted a photo on the Facebook page of Loving MountainCity. Minutes later, Louis was hit.

This sad note is a reminder to drive safely and be kind.

Reminder: send tidbits, please. Email [email protected] (subject: tidbit.)  Thanks. Merry Christmas, PTom
