The field of candidates for the position of Superintendent of the Dripping Springs ISD has been narrowed to one.
Todd Washburn, a resident of Dripping Springs who is currently associate superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment in the Eanes ISD, was named the sole finalist by trustees at their Oct. 30 meeting.
By law, the board must now wait 21 days before officially hiring Washburn, who has served in public education 29 years as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, executive director of secondary curriculum, assistant superintendent and associate superintendent.
The board followed a lengthy process in determining the lone finalist. In August, the board hired Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Executive Search Services to direct the search. TASB consultants met with staff and community groups to discuss leadership qualities of the new superintendent. An online survey also was used to gather input from all stakeholders.
