Austin man killed in single-vehicle accident

Anita Miller

One Austin man was killed and another seriously injured Wednesday when the vehicle they were in went off the road near Wimberley and struck a tree.

It happened at approximately 12:07 p.m. on FM 3237 about four miles northeast of Wimberley.

According to Trooper Robbie Barrera of the Texas Highway Patrol, the Isuzu was traveling southwest at an unsafe speed when it left the roadway.

The driver, identified as 34-year-old Christopher Ray Bostick, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Andrew Cable. A passenger, 22-year-old Christian Michael Guida was rushed to Ascension Seton Hays in Kyle for treatment of injuries described as serious.

An autopsy will be performed by Central Texas Autopsy in Lockhart.

Barrera said the speed limit along that section of roadway, which was closed for several hours after the accident, is 60 mph. Road conditions were clear and dry at the time.
