Five sets were needed for the Lehman High volleyball team to upend the Akins Eagles 25-27, 25-16, 25-23, 24-26, 15-11 on the road Friday at Akins High.
With the victory, Lehman recorded the program’s first district opening win since defeating Lockhart in four sets to start the 2011 season. At that time, Lehman High played in the 4A (now 5A ranks). It also marks only the third district win tallied by the Lobo volleyball program since the 2014 campaign.
Lehman hosts Del Valle Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lobo Den.
