A Lehman High student was arrested Monday after authorities accuse them of wounding another student with a dart.
Lehman High Principal Denisha Presley said in a letter to parents the incident occurred on campus Monday afternoon. One student was reportedly "wounded" as a result of the incident, but the injury did not require school officials to call an ambulance. The student arrested in the incident, who has not been identified at this time, will not be allowed back on campus. Additional details regarding the incident were not made immediately available.
Presley said the incident posed "no further danger" to the campus.
"We are grateful that the student who was hurt will be OK," Presley said in the letter.
Additionally, Lehman High and law enforcement officials also investigated a rumored gun threat, unrelated to the dart incident, that had been circulating on a social media site. After an investigation, authorities determined the threat involved a different school not located in Hays County and was not credible toward Lehman High.
"I know this type of news is upsetting because school safety and the safety of your children is the most important consideration. I also know I speak for our entire faculty and staff, and our partners in law enforcement, when I say that we share your passion and resolve for safety. We never lose sight of that responsibility," Presley said in the letter.
