One person was killed Saturday after a single-vehicle rollover wreck occurred on FM 1626 at Oakwood Drive near Buda.
Jonathan Baker, 45, of Kyle, was identified as the victim in the wreck, said Scott Cary, Hays County Pct. 5 Justice of the Peace.
According to authorities, a 2017 Nissan Maxima was traveling northbound on FM 1626 around 10:30 a.m. Saturday when the vehicle left the roadway, rolled over and then struck a utility pole.
According to witnesses, the vehicle was traveling at a “very high rate of speed.” However, an exact cause of the crash has not been released at this time.
The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Baker, was pronounced dead at the scene by Cary.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
