WIMBERLEY–A popular spot for the summer is no longer welcoming swimmers–at least for now.

Swimming will not be allowed at Jacob’s Well Natural Area “for the foreseeable future,” according to Hays County officials. This is due to the threat of high bacteria levels, other pollutants, and poor visibility that lead to unsafe conditions for swimming.

The area remains open for hiking and other activities including geocaching.

Given the unforeseen circumstances, the county will be working with individuals who have reservations affected by the closure. Officials will monitor the conditions on a daily basis and update the public through the county website and social media pages.
