Kyle Police seek vehicle in fatal hit-and-run

UPDATE – 10:35 a.m. May 28 


Authorities have identified the victim in Sunday's fatal hit-and-run as John William Lyon, 53, of Kyle, according to Hays County Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Beth Smith.


Kyle Police is continuing to investigate the hit-and-run and are searching for a charcoal gray Kia vehicle that may have been involved.

UPDATE – 8:29 p.m. 


Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating a charcoal gray Kia vehicle they believe was involved in a hit-and-run that left a male bicyclist dead.


According to a press release, Kyle Police was dispatched at 11:46 a.m. Sunday for a report of a white male lying in the grass near the Interstate 35 west frontage road near mile marker 212.


Officers responded and located a deceased adult male who has not yet been identified.Investigators believe the man was riding a bike and was the victim of a hit-and-run collision.


Hays County Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Beth Smith pronounced the man dead at the scene and ordered an autopsy. The victim's name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.


Authorities said the vehicle involved in the crash fled the scene. The Kia vehicle will have damage on its front passenger side bumper and is also missing its passenger side mirror.


Kyle Police continues to investigate this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Kyle Police at 512.268.3232.


Earlier 


Authorities are continuing to investigate the discovery of a bicyclist's body along the southbound Interstate 35 access road near exit 210.


According to a press release, a passing motorist discovered the body, which has so far only been identified as an adult male. Kyle Police investigators are in the process of locating the next of kin and have not yet released the identity of the bicyclist.


Officials temporarily shut down the southbound I-35 exit 210 ramp and the access road to Old Highway 81 to conduct an investigation. The road has since reopened.


No additional information is available at this time. We will provide updates as they become available.
