UPDATE – 10:11 a.m. 


A self-inflicted gunshot wound has been ruled as the cause of death for an off-duty Kyle Police officer found in the parking lot of a San Marcos apartment complex Sunday.


Fernando Solis, 28, was identified as the victim in the incident, according to a city of San Marcos press release.


Authorities were dispatched to the Ashbury Place Apartments, located in the 1300 block of Wonder World Drive, at approximately 5 p.m. Sunday for a report of a man who had been shot and was deceased.


The victim, later identified as Solis, was found in his vehicle with an apparent self-inflicted wound. No suspects are being sought in the case, according to the release.


"Our deepest condolences go out to Officer Solis’ family and to the entire Kyle Police Department,” said San Marcos Chief of Police Chase Stapp.

A Kyle Police officer was found dead in a San Marcos apartment Sunday evening, according to multiple reports.


According to a KXAN-TV report, the officer was found dead at the Ashbury Place Apartments on Wonder World Drive. Additional details are unknown at this time; San Marcos Police is leading the investigation.


In a statement, Kyle Police officials confirmed they were notified Sunday evening about the death of one of its police officers. The incident occurred when the officer was off-duty in San Marcos, according to the statement.


"The officer's death is under investigation by the San Marcos Police Department," according to the statement.


SMPD officials are expected to release a full statement Monday morning.


On Twitter, area entities are expressing support for Kyle Police.


Kyle Fire Department officials said to keep Kyle Police "in your thoughts and prayers."


"RIP to our brother in blue," according to the Kyle Fire tweet.


The San Marcos Hays County EMS (SMHCEMS) tweeted to "say a prayer for this officer and their family both blood and blue."


SMHCEMS officials said on Twitter they will not share information until it is released by Kyle Police.
