Emergency officials have shut down the 2400 block of LaVentana Parkway in Driftwood to contain a reported chlorine gas leak in the area, said North Hays County Fire Rescue Chief Scott Collard.

The leak occurred at the water treatment facility within the LaVentana subdivision, Collard said. Hays County hazardous material (Haz-Mat) crews are on scene and are working to get the leak stopped.

Several nearby residents were asked to leave their homes until the leak can be contained, said Collard. An exact number of residents who were asked to evacuate is unknown at this time. No injuries have been reported.
