A Kyle woman has been identified as the victim in a fatal single-vehicle wreck that occurred Monday in Corpus Christi.

Aspen Salazar, 21, of Kyle, was killed in an accident along Interstate Highway 37, according to a report from KIII-TV.

According to the report, Salazar was traveling on southbound I-37 around 11:30 a.m. when police believe she took a turnaround too fast and lost control of her vehicle.

Salazar’s vehicle collided with a concrete barrier, and then crashed into a freeway support column. Salazar was pronounced dead at the scene.

Salazar, a 2015 Hays High alumna, was a student at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, according to the KIII-TV report.

While at Hays, Salazar played on the Rebel softball team and was a member of the 2014 squad that reached the UIL 4A state semifinals.
