Three Wimberley residents were pronounced dead Sunday evening after a driver veered off into oncoming traffic and struck another vehicle on Ranch Road 12 near San Marcos.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, 22-year-old Ramiro Ramirez was traveling northbound on Ranch Road 12 three miles south of San Marcos around 9 p.m. when he swerved into the southbound lane and struck an SUV being driven by Elizabeth Kay Richter, a 63-year-old New Braunfels resident. Richter’s vehicle then spun and skidded along the guardrail before coming to a final stop
Ramirez’s vehicle, however, kept going in the southbound lane, and hit another car occupied by two Wimberley residents, 40-year-old Angela Mary Masullo and 44-year-old Daniel Stuart Masullo, head on. The Masullo’s vehicle was pushed up backwards on top of a guardrail, and the vehicle Ramirez was driving came to a stop and burst into flame.
