A Chisholm Trail Fire Rescue firefighter was named as the victim in a fatal three-vehicle wreck on SH 21 early Friday.
Nick Zoulek was identified as the victim in the incident by Caldwell County officials Friday.
According to a Caldwell County press release, CTFR crews responded to a fatal wreck on SH 21 around 4 a.m. Friday and discovered Zoulek was the occupant in one of three vehicles involved; Zoulek was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people were injured as a result of the collision. Their conditions are unknown at this time.
The Kyle Fire Department assisted with the recovery of Zoulek, with CTFR crews escorting Zoulek's body to the medical examiner's office in Lockhart.
According to the release, neighboring fire departments in Hays and Caldwell County are providing support for CTFR at this time.
"Firefighter Nick Zoulek was selfless in his service to the communities of Caldwell and Hays County for over three years," said CTFR Chief Mark Padier in a statement.
EARLIER
One person was killed and two others were injured after a multi-vehicle collision along State Highway 21 near Niederwald early Friday.
According to a KXAN report, at least three vehicles were involved in the incident, which occurred along SH 21 near FM 2001 around 4 a.m.
The identity of the victims has not yet been released. Details of incident are also unknown at this time.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the wreck.
