HAYS COUNTY – Carol Jane Cutler died peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, surrounded by her husband and close family at her Driftwood home.
Cutler, 71, was well-known in the community as the wife of Hays County Sheriff Gary Cutler – who has been serving the county for over a decade. She was also an Austin dental hygienist for over 45 years, where she enjoyed working alongside her peers and meeting hundreds of patients.
Cutler never met a stranger and she was always up for an adventure. Battling with cancer for 21 years, she was known to have undeniable strength and resilience.
Members of the community have taken to social media to express how Cutler impacted their lives. Cutler was described as “courageous,” “wise,” “beautiful spirit” and “bubbly.” Some said that she made a difference in the lives of everyone that was blessed to know her.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Gary, of Driftwood, son Trevor of Wimberley, daughter-in-law, Jessica, and granddaughters Sophia, Sydney and Scottlyn, sister Pam Thomas of Mount Vernon and brother Rick Kroll of Katy.
The family welcomed guests for visitation on Sunday, June 26, at the Dripping Springs United Methodist Church as well as a funeral service at 10 a.m. Monday, June 27.
