HAYS COUNTY - Summer is underway, even though the official start of the season is not until mid-June.

The US National Weather Service Austin-San Antonio Texas placed Hays County under a Heat Advisory from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, June 6.

Those planning to spend prolonged periods of time outdoors are urged to drink plenty of water, wear light-colored and lightweight clothing and take plenty of cooling breaks in shaded and/or air-conditioned environments. Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles.

Another day of near record high temperatures is likely for tomorrow afternoon, before slightly cooler temperatures arrive midweek. Relief will be brief, as near-record heat and elevated heat indices return for Friday and the upcoming weekend.
