It might be only Week 4, but Wimberley's Thursday night non-district tilt with Fredericksburg could be a critically important moment in the Texans' season. WIth a tough district slate ahead, Wimberley will need to recapture momentum to avoid a third-straight loss in a row, which hasn't happened since 2015. To do so, Wimberley must suppress an experienced Fredericksburg offense that's scored a combined 77 points in their last two contests. At the center of the Billies' offense is the tandem of quarterback Brent Bowers and running back Hobbs Price. Together, the duo has accounted for 83 percent of F'burg's total offensive output. Surrounding Bowers are four wide outs who each have 100 or more receiving yards through three contests. It could prove problematic for a Texan defense that's struggled the last two weeks. Wimberley's best defense could be their offense, which takes on an F'burg unit that's equally had problems stopping people. Through three games, Texan quarterback Cooper McCollum has 640 yards passing and six scores dispersed to four wide receivers. Can Wimberley maintain consistency for all four quarters? And will the weather play a role in how this plays out? If last season's overtime shootout was any possible indication, fans could be in for another thrilling chapter in the Wimberley/Fredericksburg matchup.
Hays Rebels (2-0, 0-0) vs. Anderson Trojans (3-1, 1-0)
When: Friday, Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m.

Fresh off a bye week, Hays aims to keep momentum rolling against the resurgent Anderson Trojans who bring with them a stingy defense. Through the first three games of the season, opponents have only scored 55 total points against the Trojan defense. Anderson has limited its last two opponents (Rouse and Del Valle) to less than 200 yards rushing. It could prove to be a challenge for the Rebels' Slot-T attack, which has had tremendous success in the early going. Hays brings its multi-dimensional ground game spearheaded by running backs Sam Scott, Nash Danford, Xavier Martinez and Xavier Green, as well as a pass attack that was up to the task against Dripping Springs. On the opposite side, Hays' defense will look to stop an effective Trojan run game led by senior running back Coy Fullmer, who led the team with 94 yards and a pair of scores a week previous.
Dripping Springs Tigers (2-1) at Travis Rebels (0-3)

Over the past three weeks, Dripping Springs football games have been dramatic experiences that often came down to the very last play. A similar theme won't (and shouldn't) play out Friday when Dripping Springs opens district play against a woeful Travis program. So far this year, Travis has managed to score only one touchdown in three games. In fact, Travis' offense has yet to post a touchdown on the board this season – the team's lone score came as the result of an 86-yard fumble return in their season opener. It could bode well for a Dripping Springs defense looking for a breather and a chance to expand their depth. Travis will try to breakthrough the Tiger defense with quarterback Stephen Lopez and running backs Lorenzo Puente and Isaac Wright. Meanwhile, Dripping Springs' high-powered offense, led by quarterback Tanner Prewit and running back Jake Cox, takes on a porous Travis defense that's given up 35 or more points in all three games this year.
