An overwhelming first half show of force was enough for the Dripping Springs Tigers to easily roll past the Travis Rebels in a 49-0 district opening blowout Friday at Burger Stadium.
Dripping Springs (3-1, 1-0) out-gained Travis (0-4, 0-1) 440 to 46 in total yards and limited the Rebels to only four first downs in the game.

Following a Sept. 28 bye week, Dripping Springs returns to action Oct. 5 on the road against McCallum. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at House Park in Austin.
Leading the way for the Tigers was quarterback Tanner Prewit, who went 8 of 12 for 210 yards and a pair of touchdowns passing, while also rushing for 15 yards and a score.
Eleven Tiger players recorded at least one carry rushing the ball, with ten of those players gaining positive yardage. Dripping Springs’ Stephen Crosby led the team with 11 carries for 66 yards and a touchdown, while senior Jake Cox finished with 62 yards and a pair of scores. Junior Curtis Cox also finished with a rushing touchdown.
Five Dripping Springs receivers finished with at least one catch, led by senior Parker Alford who had 128 yards on three catches and one score. Tiger wide receiver Curtis O’Banan finished with 36 yards and one touchdown.
Dripping Springs slammed on the accelerator out of the gate with a 94-yard first quarter touchdown pass from Prewit to Alford, giving the Tigers a 7-0 lead. The play tied a 27-year-old school record for the longest touchdown pass in program history.
The Tigers continued to pour on the offense, scoring 42 more points before the end of the first half, highlighted by a 54-yard touchdown run by Jake Cox.
