Plans for a U.S. Postal Service closure Wednesday in remembrance of late former President George H.W. Bush is expected to impact delivery of this week's print edition of the Hays Free Press and News-Dispatch.

According to the U.S Postal Service website, regular mail deliveries, retail services and administrative office activity be suspended Wednesday, Dec. 5 in remembrance of Bush, who passed away over the weekend. The move is "consistent" with a Presidential proclamation designating Dec. 5, 2018 as a National Day of Mourning.

As a result, delivery of the print edition of the Hays Free Press and News-Dispatch, which regularly hits mailboxes on Thursday, is expected to be pushed back this week to Friday, Dec. 7.  The Hays Free Press and News-Dispatch are normally collected and marked by post office officials Wednesday and delivered to mailboxes Thursday.

However, Barton Publications staff plans to deliver newspapers to our racks once delivered from our printer Dec. 5.
