Music on the Square
A free, family-friendly concert series will be held every Friday in May on the lawn of the Hays County Historic Courthouse in downtown San Marcos. Guests are encouraged to support local businesses by ordering takeout, while also bringing chairs, blankets and beverages in glass-free containers.
Lawn games and shopping from local vendors start at 5:30 p.m. The opening set will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the headliner will follow at 7:30 p.m. Sets will feature musicians who started their careers in San Marcos.

Kyle Citywide Cleanup
The Kyle Police Department is hosting the Citywide Cleanup event on May 21 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Gregg-Clarke Park. To participate, the event is limited to the first 500 residents that fill out the signup form at www.cityofkyle.com/communications/citywide-cleanup-sign, which will close on May 19 at 5 p.m., or when all spots are filled.
The event is for residential waste only; no commercial waste will be accepted and no Uhauls, box trucks or trailers will be allowed. Accepted materials include bagged trash, metal and mattresses. Attendees are asked to stack their waste loads with mattresses on the bottom, metal in the middle and bagged trash on top, and secure them with tarps and ratchet straps as needed. Participants will be required to unload their own items.
Items that will not be accepted include electronics, recyclables and household hazardous waste. These items will be accepted at a future cleanup event.
Dripping Springs Community Festival
With the help of local churches, attendees can get to know the Hays County Sheriff’s Office at this free event for the Dripping Springs community on Saturday, May 21 at 10 a.m. at Dripping Springs Ranch Park. There will be games for kids, a K9 demo, drones, SWAT vehicles and other displays, along with food and drinks.
Buda Crawfest
Live music, food vendors, drinks, friends and plenty of crawfish. Join the Buda community at the Crawfest this weekend on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Buda Amphitheater and City Park. Moving screening in Buda
Looking to support an indie film? Bring your blankets and lawn chairs to a free outdoor screaming of The Quantum Terror, a film produced in Kyle. The screening will be on Saturday, May 28 at 8:45 p.m. at Bat City Scaregrounds in Buda.
The movie description reads, “The twin sister and ex-boyfriend of a missing grad student lead their friends down a labyrinth of dark tunnels inhabited by an alien entity, in search of her. A story of terror and madness, in the tradition of H.P. Lovecraft, David Lynch, and old school practical effects.”

Celebrate 150 years with First Baptist Church DS
First Baptist Church of Dripping Springs is celebrating their 150th anniversary on June 5 with a day-long celebration. The Open House begins at 9 a.m. and worship service starts at 10:45 a.m. An outdoor BBQ will follow at 12 p.m. with a celebration program at 2 p.m. RSVP at www.FBCDS.com150.
Mural contest sponsored by the Buda EDC
The Buda Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is seeking a mural artist, graffiti artist and artistic painters to create a Buda and patriotic-themed rendering for a Buda business. This is to be painted alongside the exterior wall of a business to be featured as a prominent “selfie spot” or area for pictures to be taken that highlights the city. Images of artwork should be submitted by June 17.
Buda Bogey Classic
You can take full swing of the Buda Chamber of Commerce’s annual golf tournament on Monday, June 20 at the Onion Creek Club. Tee time is 8:30 a.m.
