The North Hays County Fire Rescue asks those in the affected area of the gas leak to shelter in place and to not evacuate their home or business, according to Dripping Springs Emergency Management.
If it is necessary to evacuate someone, a deputy or firefighter will go to the location and give the order to evacuate.

Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) is shutting down electrical power in several sections along the 1600 block of East Highway 290, according to Dripping Springs Emergency Management.
Additionally, all businesses in the affected area are being told to shelter in place for precautionary purposes until the leak has been contained.

A major gas leak caused by a contractor puncturing a gas line has forced officials to shut down U.S. Highway 290 between Rob Shelton Blvd. and Hays Country Acres, according to the city of Dripping Springs Emergency Management.
The Hays County Sheriff's Office is currently evacuating the Hays Country Acres subdivision due to the leak located in the 1600 block of east US 290 in Dripping Springs. Reverse 911 is being sent to all residents in the subdivision to evacuate the area. US 290 is also being shut down in both directions at this time.
According to officials, there are no immediate threats to the public and all are urged to avoid the area until the line is repaired.
