Pedernales Electric warns of phone scam

Pedernales Electric Cooperative officials are warning its members of a reported phone scam targeting the area.

According to PEC, members have reported phone calls threatening to disconnect service and instructing members to call a phone number with an 866 area code. Members who call the number may hear an automated phone directory similar to PEC's.

"PEC will never call and threaten immediate disconnection," according to a statement from PEC.
