DRIPPING SPRINGS — Three Dripping Springs art venues will participate in a new art tour in the city that will help showcase the talent of local artists to the community.
Mercer St. Art, Carved Stone and STUDIO:13 will participate in the Dripping Springs Art Tour May 21 and 22 that will “add a new dimension to the city for local residents and our many visitors,” according to Dripping Springs Visitors Bureau president Pam Owens.
“This unstructured tour adds greatly to the types of attractions for both locals and visitors,” Owens said. “We have not had an organized program for the display of quality art. The connection of these three art venues will greatly enhance the availability.”
Mercer St. Art holds original paintings, sculptures, glasswork, jewelry, pottery and other fine art. Carved Stone is home of the Dripping Springs Sculpture Garden and the workshop of noted sculptors Phil and Michele Hoggatt. STUDIO:13 is the workshop and studio of Doyle Fellers, a painter, sculptor and poet.
Fellers initiated the tour concept and previously served on the board of the Visitors Bureau’s Destination Dripping Springs.
“There are many great artists and artisans in and around Dripping Springs that create jewelry, pottery, glassworks and other crafts, but few have venues to display their work,” Fellers said, adding that they are also planning to periodically host special events highlighting and supporting other local artists.
All three venues will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the opening tour on May 21 and 22. Attendees may begin at any of the venues. Further information is available from Dripping Springs Art Tour director and owner of Mercer St. Art Deb Vincent via email at [email protected].
