A Dripping Springs teen who is suspected of assaulting his mother and fleeing the scene with her vehicle earlier this week was taken into custody by U.S. Marshalls Friday after a short vehicle pursuit in Illinois, according to a Hays County Sheriff's Office press release.
William Michael Bryars, 17, of Dripping Springs, was captured after he attempted to evade officers in Alton, Ill. and subsequently wrecked the vehicle he was driving.
According to the release, Bryars sustained minor injuries during the collision and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The vehicle Bryars was driving was a 2012 black 2-door Nissan Altima that he had stolen from his mother, who has been identified as Kathy Ann Bryars, 53, of Dripping Springs.
According to the release, the HCSO was notified of Bryars' arrest by the Alton Police Department, which is located 24 miles north of St. Louis, Miss.
It was reported to the HCSO that Bryars was heading to the Missouri area when he fled Dripping Springs. It's unknown at this time if charges will be filed by Alton Police. According to the HCSO, a time frame for Bryars' extradition to Texas has not yet been determined.
On Wednesday, warrants against Bryars were issued by Hays County Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace Terry Kyle for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which is a first-degree felony, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, which is a state jail felony.

A woman whose son allegedly attacked her with a hammer and stabbed her with a screwdriver in Dripping Springs was transported Tuesday to an Austin-area hospital where she is still being treated for her injuries. The name of the victim is being withheld at this time.

The Hays County Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident where a teen allegedly attacked his mother Tuesday morning in Dripping Springs and then fled the scene in her vehicle.
Authorities are now attempting to locate William Michael Bryars, 17, who is the suspect in the aggravated assault.
Tuesday's incident occurred in the 400 block of Lime Stone Trail in Dripping Springs, according to a post on the HCSO Facebook page.
According to the post, the victim informed authorities she was beaten with a hammer and stabbed with a screwdriver by her son, who was identified as Bryars.
Bryars then fled the scene in his mother's 2012 black, 2-door Nissan Altima with Texas Licence Plate HGB1301. The vehicle has damage to the front passenger quarter panel and rear passenger portion, according to authorities.
Bryars is described as a white male, standing 5-feet, 9-inches in height and weighs 145 pounds. He also has brown hair and brown eyes. It's possible the suspect may be traveling to Missouri based on "additional threats made to family members," according to the HCSO.
Bryars should be considered armed and dangerous and authorities ask the public to refrain from approaching him. They ask those who may see him to immediately dial 911 and report information.
