‘Chispas’ is the Spanish word for ‘sparks.’ Here are some things that have sparked us recently!

Foster or adopt a furry friend

San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter (SMRAS) recently reported on social media that they went beyond the maximum capacity of their kennels, and were urgently seeking people to adopt, foster or rescue animals. Since April 28, there have been a total of 28 dog adoptions, 20 dogs transferred to rescues and 26 dogs are in foster care. There are currently 91 dogs at the facility and there are two empty kennels.

SMRAS said that while this is great news, help from the Hays County community is always needed. Adoptions cost $97 and include a spaying or neutering, an exam from a veterinarian and a microchip. For more information, visit www.sanmarcostx.gov/208/San-Marcos-Regional-Animal-Shelter

Dutch Bros coming to Buda

Drive-through coffee continues to be a hit! Buda City Council approved a special-use permit for Dutch Bros Coffee at 2090 Main St. in Buda during the April 19 council meeting. The permit was unanimously approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission during its April 12 meeting. The shop will be around 950 square-feet and feature a drive-thru and walk-up window, and is expected to employ at least 40 people. Construction is set to begin this summer.
