Hays High School Speech team members (l-r, left photo) Ryan Coffey, Chance Walker, and Peyton Gouzien advanced to the National Speech and Debate Association’s (NSDA) National Tournament.Walker will compete in Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking, while Gouzien and Coffey will represent their home NSDA District on the World Schools Debate team. The Gina Lozano-coached speakers will be in Birmingham, Alabama, June 18-24 for this year’s NSDA Nationals. Walker, along with Jude McLaren (right photo) also qualified for the Chicago-hosted Tournament of Champions. This selective speech tournament showcases the top 100 extemporaneous speakers in the nation and is set for May 5-8.
