‘Chispas’ is the Spanish word for ‘sparks.’ Here are some things that have sparked us this week!

Quilts gifted to local veterans

Last month, veterans of the Buda Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care community received quilts from Quilts of Valor. The organization awards handmade quilts to service members or veterans who have been touched by war as a small way to say ‘thank you’ for their service and sacrifice. There are currently 14 veterans who live at Buda Oaks. Pictured is resident Charles Foerster assisted by Karen Faulois.

Texas Water Utilities partnered with the Kyle Police Department and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) on April 30 to collect and dispose of expired and unused prescription drugs for Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The program helped Kyle residents properly dispose of 274 pounds of prescription and over-the-counter medications to prevent them from being flushed down the toilet and entering local waterways and water systems. The event also provides an opportunity for the community to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths.

Take the Kyle Downtown survey

Kyle residents: make your voice heard and participate in the city’s Downtown Kyle Master Plan Survey, which will be open through the rest of the month. The Downtown Kyle Master Plan is an effort to help preserve and protect the city’s charm while allowing for new and existing improvements to be made to the downtown area, and the survey will help create and guide the new Master Plan. The Master Plan will continue to be developed into June and be finalized in July.
