Hays County hires new fire marshal
Mark Wobus was sworn in as the new Hays County Fire Marshal during the April 12 commissioners court meeting. Wobus is a certified firefighter, EMT and peace officer who has worked in both firefighter and law enforcement roles throughout his over 30-year career, including fire investigation and hazard response.
Winning lotto ticket sold in Buda
A $25,000 Texas Lottery ticket was sold at the Stripes convenience store on FM 1626 in Buda during the Cash Five drawing on April 8. Another winning ticket of the same amount was sold at a convenience store in Stephenville. Both winning tickets were QUICKTICKET cards.
Local quilters create a buzz
The Buda Bees, a local quilt group in Buda, presented the Onion Creek Senior Center (OCSC) with a $5,543.03 check as a "thank you" for the OCSC's support of the Bees. New businesses coming to Kyle
Businesses continue to flock to Kyle as the area sees explosive growth and endless potential. Beverage company Sovereign Flavors is relocating its headquarters to Kyle from California into an 80,000 square-foot facility that will employ over 50 people. Drive-thru coffee company Dutch Bros Coffee is set to open later this year and will be located at 20347 IH-35 next to Taco Bell. Shipley Do-nuts is now open at 4520 FM 1626.
