Early voting: Buda saying 'no' to fluoridation, Mitchell leads big in Kyle mayor race

With 78 percent of the vote in, Buda voters continue opposition against the city's fluoride proposition.


Roughly 64 percent of Buda voters have so far voted against Proposition A. However, Buda voters continue to support Proposition B, which is for single-member districts. Prop B is currently passing with 62 percent of the vote.


In Buda's two contested city council races, Remy Fallon maintains her 19 perecnt lead over Clark Beach in the Place 5 race, while Paul Daugereau leads former city council member Jose Montoya by 31 percent.


In Kyle, current city council member Travis Mitchell continues to hold a big lead over his opponents in the race for the mayor's seat.


Mitchell currently has 60-percent of the vote with 778 votes, while candidate Bill Sinor has 18 percent of the vote with 241 votes. Jaime Sanchez remains third with 11 percent of the vote, while Nicole Romero-Piche has nine percent.


Current Planning and Zoning Commissioner Dex Ellison maintains a nine percent lead over candidate Marco Pizana in the District 4 race, while Alex Villalobos leads Tim McHutchion by 186 votes.

A 375 vote lead is how much current Kyle District 1 council member Travis Mitchell has over his next closest opponent in the race for the city's mayoral seat, according to early voting numbers released by Hays County Tuesday.


Mitchell received 528 total early votes, while candidate Bill Sinor received 153. Candidate Jaime Sanchez received 102 votes and Nicole Romero-Piche received 76.


However, the race for Kyle City Council District 4 seat is currently a much tighter affair. Candidate Alex Villalobos currently holds an 11 vote lead over candidate Tim McHutchion after early voting numbers were released.


In the special election for Mitchell's unexpired District 1 seat, candidate Dex Ellision leads candidate Marco Pizana by a slim 75 vote margin after early voting ballots were counted.


Meanwhile, Buda voters are so far dismissing the city's proposition to reintroduce fluoride into its water system.


Roughly 64 percent of the 502 early ballots cast for Proposition A have voted against the measure, according to early voting numbers.


Conversely, Buda voters have so far given approval for the prospect of single-member districts, as Proposition B is currently passing with a 117 vote margin.


In the race for Buda's Place 5 seat, candidate Remy Fallon holds a 75 vote advantage over candidate Clark Beach, while in the Place 4 race, Paul Daugereau leads Jose Montoya by 153 votes.
