The Lehman Lobos (0-2) had their home opener spoiled by the McCallum Knights (2-0) in a 55-17 loss Friday at Bob Shelton Stadium.

Both teams got off to a sloppy start as each team fumbled the ball on their opening drives; only one fumble resulted in a turnover.

Lehman junior defensive back C.J. Scott recovered the first turnover of the game early in the first quarter, but the Lobo offense was unable to capitalize on its opportunity.

McCallum senior quarterback Maxwell Perez and the Knight offense controlled the game with their high octane style of play. Perez carried the ball six times for 36 yards and three rushing touchdowns in the first half. Passing touchdowns of 25 and 26 yards by Perez followed.

Lehman’s lone bright spot in the first half was a 31 yard rushing touchdown by sophomore running back Diego Romero in the second quarter. The Knights led 35-10 at halftime.

McCallum kept their foot on the pedal in the third quarter as Perez threw a 78-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Mason Bryant to start the half. Perez and Bryant connected again later in the quarter for a 17-yard touchdown, pushing the score to 49-10.

Lobos senior running back Kaleb Priestly burst onto the scene in the fourth quarter after an injury to Romero. Priestly had 8 carries for 84 yards including a 53 yard rushing touchdown late in the game.

Lehman travels to play Akins (1-1) on Sept. 15th.
